Halas League

Meat Weasels (1-0) versus Shek Republic (1-0)
Both teams score big points in week one (over 100 each). The current #1-#2 teams in this league fight for the early lead in Halas League, Sayers Division. Meat Weasels acquired RB Kimble Anders whereas Shek Republic made big additions by acquiring RB Charlie Garner and WR E.G. Green. Both will be on their respective team starting lineup.
Meat Weasels goes with QB Brian Griese who looked impressive on week one vs Miami blitzing defense. RB Kimble Anders (who actually is a FB) scares me a bit whereas RB Jerome Bettis could have a big day vs Baltimore soft Defensive Line. The WRs look great : WR Antonio Freeman who should produce as usual with Favre starting, WR Frank Sanders who wants to rebound from a poor week one performance and WR Michael Westbrook who might be the real deal this year.
Shek might feel comfortable at QB with Peyton Manning, who will surely be in his roster for years, as he also starts Indy both WR Marvin Harrison and EG Green. His lone RB is a scoring goal-line back who might also get up to 6-8 carries a game (Leroy Hoard). Add WR Keyshawn Johnson who will try to get QB Rick Mirer's attention and TE Shannon Sharpe in the mix and the Shek should be OK.
Lokk for Shek Republic to take the lead in the Gale Sayers Division.

Wayne Fontes (1-0) versus Kiwi Air (1-0)
Walter Payton division lead is in the air. Wayne Fontes had an easy week one victory whereas Kiwi Air just won by two points margin. Wayne Fontes did not make any FA pickups, and Kiwi Air got RB Jonathon Linton who will not start this week.
Wayne Fontes has all the weapons ready to fire, but still some questions. Is RB Curtis Enis finally as good as the prospect that was seen in College as he proved in week one ? Will hamstring RB Robert Smith and WR Tery Glenn stay healthy ? Well for now I think so.
Kiwi Air has three sure guys in QB Bledsoe, RB Levens and WR McCardell. The other receivers are not so sure material. WR Alexander and WR Rob Moore had good week one stats but faces good pass defenses (Denver and Miami), WR Mathis will try to get passes thrown by QB Graziani...
I like Wayne Fontes to lead the Walter Payton division by the end of week two.

Oklahoma OhNos (0-1) versus Lincoln Assassins (1-0)
Oklahoma OhNos were not lucky on week one as they lost 55 bench points...whereas Assassins nearly fielded their best possible team. OhNos just picked QB Jeff Lewis of the waivers.
San Francisco will rebound this week and you will hear again "Touchdown pass from QB Steve Young to WR Jerry Rice". RBs are OK, with RB Emmitt Smith still getting loads of carries and RB Karim Abdul who is still the starter in Miami for now. WR Dawkins will have opportunities vs a weak Chicago D whereas WR Darnay Scott faces San Diego.
Assassins team really scares me. QB Rich Gannon vs Packers D. RB Sean Bennett who still hasn't proved anything. RB Cecil Collins who is still not 100% (see OhNos starting Jabbar). WR Rae Carruth will face Jaacksonville defense. Only satisfying player are RB Edgerin James and WR Randy Moss who will not be kept silent all year long.
Look for a blast as OhNos will be up to what they are expected : win, and win big.

Thundering Gerbils (0-1) versus Pigskinned Monkeys (1-0)
Monkeys are leading their division and Gerbils just lost by two points. Monkeys just added RB Ron Rivers for some depth.
Gerbils weak players are WR Morton and WR Sheperd.
Monkeys will lineup WR Ez Ed, WR Muhammad, WR JJ Stokes who might benefit from a SF wake-up game and WR Hines Ward who seems to be the go-to guy in Pittsburgh. Oops, soory, it was against Cleveland.
I like Pigskinned Monkeys here.

Brigantine 69ers (0-1) versus Sportin' Life (0-1)
The two lowest scoring teams in the Gale Sayers Division. The 69ers acquired WR Corey Bradford, whereas Sportin'Life acquired QB Rick Mirer during week one FA bidding. None of these players will get a start in this week game.
Brigantine starts QB Stewart vs Ravens D. Well, it's not Cleveland. Look for one or two interceptions. RB Corey Dillon will struggle vs Chargers D. RB Curtis Martin is now going to carry all the load at RB but will Rick Mirer keep the defenses honest ? Receivers are OK, though not top material in "I will never play in Cincy again, but will sign for a bunch of millions dollars" Pickens, WR Thigpen who will look at passes thrown by QB Neil O'Donnell, TE Cameron Cleeland who should help keep the defenses honest for Ricky.
Sportin'Life goes with QB Mark Brunell who should be as usual vs a weak Carolina D. RB Warrick Dunn will have more opportunities as QB Trent Dilfer will be told to hand-off the ball more often. RB Eddie George will surely benefit from QB Steve McNair injury as he will get the goal-line carries. The WR Corps looks fine to me. WR Tim Brown faces Packers D. WR Michael Irvin will not repeat last weak performance (it was Troy Aikman record game) as he faces Atlanta D. WR Jermaine Lewis can only improve from last week performance (0 catch).
I like Sportin'Life to rebound.

Weapons of Love (0-1) versus Kardiac Kids (0-1)
Kardiac Kids lost while putting their best possible lineup and Weapons of Love lost by putting their worst possible lineup. Wepons of Love made nice FA acquisitions with WR Bill Schroeder and RB Tavian Banks. The Kids tried to upgrade at QB with QB Jim Harbaugh and QB Kurt Warner.
Weapons of Love sticks with injured RB Fred Taylor (it might be a game tme decision) and start RB Natrone Means who had an early week one bye. QB Plummer will try to go up but will struggle in Miami. The WRs are nice with WR Bill Scroeder, WR Tony Martin and WR Kevin Dyson who faces Cleveland.
Kardiac Kids start QB Kent Graham and WR Hilliard vs a weak Washington D. WR Jimmy Smith goes against Carolina and should see many balls thrown at him. WR Cris Carter was the #1 guy in Minny on week one. RB Ricky Watters faces weak Chicago D. RB Adrian Murrell faces Miami D and see what they did to Terrell on week one...
Don't expect Weapons of Love to be unlucky all year. Weapons of Love win in a big scoring game.

Rooney League

Molino FFL (1-0) versus European 99'ers (1-0)
Battle for #1 spot in Franco Harrisdivision. Molino FFL Acquired QB Jeff Garcia and European 99ers try to grab some RBs with RB Jonathon Linton and RB Lamar Smith.
Well, who is the worst guy in Air Molino starting lineup ? It looks like it is WR Albert Connell who was one of the highest scorer last week. NO comments, just the lineup : QB Young, WR Carter, WR Freeman, WR Rice, WR McCaffrey, WR Connell, PK Anderson, TM Bills.
Peyton Manning is definitely a franchise QB. Is Stephen Davis the answer in Washington ? RB Curtis Martin will have more opportunities with last week injuries. Will Jermaine Lewis finally get a reception tis year. Too many questions today.
I hate to say that, but look for a big blowout as Air Molino FFL will go for week two highest NGFFL scoring team. Molino FFL win and my European 99ers lose...

MediaBLITZ (1-0) versus Tianemen Tanks (1-0)
Battle for Terry Bradshaw division leadership. MediaBLITZ just acquired WR Bill Schroeder and are shopping others WR out of town. Tianamen Tanks made no adition.
MediaBLITZ feels like RB Fred Taylor will not get the goal line carries as he starts RB James Stewart. He already started RB Leroy Hoard in week one with success. With the addition of RB Alstott and RB Means in the starting lineup as well as QB Favre and WR Dawkins and WR Schroeder, MediaBLITZ is ready to go.
Tianamen Tanks starters are more intriguing : QB Flutie, RB Hicks, WR Hilliard. Will WR Crowell pit up solid numbers this week ? How will Keyshawn do with Mirer ? Is Coates worth a start. Well, with Saint Louis bye week, and RB Faulk on the bench, not many options left.
MediaBLITZ win.

Class Dismissed (1-0) versus The Lewinsky Swallows (0-1)
Class Dismissed looked as promising as their roster, great. Lewinsky Swallows acquired QB Kurt Warner.
QB Steve McNair injury forces Class to go with a new starting QB (will it be Blake vs San Diego or Brad johnson vs New York Giants ?). Their ground attack is still impressive (RB Jamal Anderson, RB Emmitt Smith, RB Robert Smith). WRs should be ok with WR Michael Irvin and WR Pickens. Kicker Al Del Greco will have to boot many PATs, Seattle Defense is on the same track as last year.
Lewinsky Swallows starters are good, but not great. QB Grbac vs Denver, especially will struggle. Look for RB Terrell Davis to run throuogh KC defense. PK Pete Stoyanovich might get some long attempts if Grbac struggles in the offense.
Class Dismissed

Four Horsemen (0-1) versus Boston Swarm (1-0)
Week one lowest scorer vs week one highest scorer... Four Horsemen tries to get some help at RB with the addition of RB Bennett and RB Rivers. Boston Swarm gives a look at WR Corey Bradford.
RB Sean Bennett will already see action in this week game for Hoursemen. WR Rison will struggle against Denver. WR OJ McDuffie will be looked at by Marino who starts for Boston Swarm.
Boston Swarm lineup : QB Marino, RB Terry Allen, RB Edgerin James, RB Duce Staley, WR Tim Brown, WR Marvin Harrison, PK Vanderjagt, TM 49ers. Sure Boston Swarm rely on Indy offense, but we'll see if week one was just an exception.
Boston Swarm win in a big blowout.

Hoosier Tornados (0-1) versus Titan Traders (0-1)
Who will stay without a victory ? Traders grabbed WR EG Green and WR Hines Ward from the waivers and they will both see the field for Traders.
Will QB Randall Cunnigham outcsore QB Jake Plummer, I think so. Will RBs Bettis + Enis outscore RBs Murrell + Taylor, I think so. Will WRs Simmons, Thigpen, Westbrook outcsore WRs Calloway, EG Green, Hines Ward, I think so.
Hoosier Tornados is my favorite.

Wisconsin Z-Force (0-1) versus D.S. Dolphins (0-1)
Z-Force acquired RB Tyrone Wheatley from the waivers.
QB Kordell Stewart will struggle vs Ravens pass defense. I like RB Levens, WR Glenn and WR Moss to have good weeks. On the contrary, I don't like RB A Smith and WR Curtis Conway.
Dolphins start RB Garner who seems to be #1 for now, RB Kaufman who might not be #1 for long and RB Eddie George who will face easy Cleveland D. WR Mathis will do OK on Monday Night and I like WR Moulds for a great week.
DS Dolphins to win.

Brown League

Degeneration X (1-0) versus Maho Marauders (1-0)
Degeneration grabbed QB Jim Harbaugh and waived QB Elvis Grbac. Marauders grabbed RB Amos Zeroue and WR Corey Bradford.
QB Brett Favre is ready to go, but will have little help at RB with RB Collins and RB Dunn. WRs are OK but doon't expect a repeat from WR Croweel, nor WR Simmons. Look for WR Moulds and Miami D to score big for Degeneration X.
Maho Marauders has a strong lineup. QB Manning, RB George vs Cleveland, RB Edgerin James, WR Irvin who will have hard times vs Atlanta, WR Rice and WR Schroeder. Titans D should get a few INTs.
Maho Marauders for victory.

Atlanta Jackhammers (1-0) versus Huntley Hackers (1-0)
Jackhammers grabbed RB Richard Huntley. And Huntley Hackers got QB Kurt Warner and RB Greg Hill..
Jackhammers play QB Jeff Blake vs strong Chargers D. RB corps is great with RB JJ Johnson, RB Levens, and RB Emmitt Smith. WRs are not insurance policy with WR Ismail and WR Hines Ward.
Hackers will surely have to start QB Kurt Warner. Only notable starting RB would be Greg Hill. Look for the points to come from Air with WR Freeman, WR Martin, WR Mathis, WR Dawkins and Seahawks D.
Ground vs Air. I like Huntley Hackers here.

Starfleet Academy (0-1) versus Cleveland Browns (1-0)
Cleveland Browns grabbed RB Kimble Anders and RB Ron Rivers.
San Francisco will wake up and Starfllet really needs that as they start QB Young, RB Garner, and WR Owens.
Cleveland Browns will have a great week with QB Brunell, RB Jamal Anderson facing Dallas D (see what RB Stephen Davis did), WR Dyson vs Cleveland, WR Harrison and WR Jimmy Smith.
Cleveland Browns for a division lead.

Gridiron Dominators (0-1) versus Connor's DawgPen (1-0)
Ground game here as Dominators start RB Stephen Davis, RB Natrone Means, RB Robert Smith vs Dawgpen RB Bettis + Jax RBs Stewart + Taylor.
I like Gridiron Dominators to dominate this matchup.

Ebola Zaire (0-1) versus Austin Powers International Team of Mystery (0-1)
Ebola Zaire grabbed RB Tyrone Wheatley and WR EG Green.
Zaire just lost QB Steve McNair and will surely start QB Brad Johnson. RB A Smith has a last chance to produce before seeing the bench more often. I don't like WR Mayes and WR Sanders this week, but expect big things from WR Pickens and WR Thigpen.
Austin Powers runs hard with QB Kordell Stewart who will run as well as A Smith :-). RBs are Terrell Davis, Corey Dillon and Curtis Enis. WRs are Cris Carter and Terry Glenn.
Austin Powers International Team of Mystery wins to forget last week upset (tied game lost to tie-breaker).

daUCBcat (0-1) versus Predators (0-1)
Who will stay winless...?
I don't see WR Ez Ed score three TDs a week, WR Rob Moore has to look for Plummer at QB and WR Scott sees Pickens back on track. QB Marino, RB Watters and TE Sharpe are not enough to carry all the load.
Predators on the contrary go ground first with RBs Jabbar, Alstott, Martin. QB Cunnigham and WR McCardell add some air points.
I like Predators to win.

Week one analysis

by Alf

Well, week one is just over, and owners are in different moods. Some are smiling big because they picked up the week one sleeper (any Stephen Davis owner here ?). Some are crying because they lost big in week one (Vinny, Vinny, Vinny...).

As far as my predictions are concerned, I was really bad. I just went through typical standard established average performance. Of course it isn't like that. Players have up weeks, and down weeks. So if by accident I pick up your team next week, be afraid that I will surely be wrong. I dont pretend my predictions to be accurate :-). I just do them for entertainment.

By the way for all the guys who wonder how I can go through all this stuff, first I am single, second I only sleep 5-6 hours a night, third I also play in two other leagues (one redraft league, one with 5 keepers with owners I know from my rookie year) and I completely screwed up week one in those by starting J Lewis and F Sanders while D Alexander and M Westbrook were putting my bench on fire on the redraft one, whereas my so-called good draft in the keeper (I am predicted to blast everyone...;-) lead me to star players getting dumbass scores and two losses.

First of all, needless to say that this week was a receivers week. Did you see that according to our scoring, both Terrell Davis and Fred Taylor were not in the Top 20 RB too ? Week one top rusher is RB Richard Huntley from Pittsburgh...woaw, who wants him for a starter in his team ?
Back to Week one post game analysis.

Halas League : 2 out of 6

Shek Republic (129 pts) defeated Brigantine 69ers (68 pts)
I got Brigantine Favorite due to the running game, but as most the Top rushers were not consistent this week. Add the fact that Shek Republic was the second overall NGFFL league top scoring team, that Brigantine lost Herman Moore due to an injury, and you will understand why Brigantine lost while having an average week.
Both owners might be unhappy with Vinny injury as they own Curtis Martin or Keyshawn Johnson. Time will tell.

Meat Weasels (107 pts) defeated Oklahoma OhNos (72 pts)
Meat Weasels fielded their best possible lineup, and OhNos their worst. MW put 107 out of 108 possible. OO put 72 out of 127 possible...But would you have started Blake instead of Young and Dawkins instead of Rice ?

Lincoln Assassins (88 pts) defeated Sportin' Life (70 pts)
This game might decide play-offs positions at the end of the regular season. I can hear a sigh of relief from the Switz. His ground game was great in week one. Rookie Edgerrin James and Duce Staley were both in the Top 5 RBs from week one. As for Sportin' Life, Jacksonville put up 41 points but Brunnell still had middle of the pack numbers.

Pigskinned Monkeys (95 pts) defeated Weapons of Love (59 pts)
Weapons of Love bench would have outscored its starters. Need I say more. This was the first matchup between Terrell and Fred. 7 points for Fred vs 6 for Terrell with no touchdown. Ouch, for the league Top 2 picks, that sucks.

Kiwi Air (74 pts) defeated Thundering Gerbils (72 pts)
My first correct prediction (and by two points only). Stephen Davis is the best scorer for Gerbils whereas Derrick Alexander is the best scorer for Kiwi Air. Can you believe this with Jamal Anderson, Randall Cunningham, Eric Moulds, Dorsey Levens, Ricky Williams, etc...? I can't.

Wayne Fontes (93 pts) defeated Kardiac Kids (71 pts)
My second correct prediction. New Orleans Def with 17 points is the best scorer for the Kids. Wayne Fontes worst scorer is Robert Smith with 4 points. The Kids have fielded their best team whereas Fontes still had Germane Crowell and Terry Allen on the bench. Fontes couldn't lose.

Rooney League : 3 out of 6

Molino FFL (79 pts) defeated The Lewinsky Swallows (69 pts)
Air Molino strikes on week one ! Funny to note that Lewinsky Swallows put up 69 points on their first NGFFL appearance. Did they do it in purpose ;-) ? Molino was not "all" lucky this week as SF struggled vs Jacksonville and rewarded him with a Young to Rice combo of just 6 points...Lewinsky suffered too as they got Terrell Owens on the field. The loss of Testaverde to injury will surely damage this team future. Look for them to search a replacement QB to help them win soon.

Class Dismissed (115 pts) defeated Hoosier Tornados (88 pts)
Class Dismissed managed to score big and the points came from Tennessee with McNair and Del Greco and Dallas with Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin. All these players benefited from big score games. Hoosier Tornados could not have made much more than what they made. Only Tonny Simmons could have add some points.

European 99'ers (85 pts) defeated Titan Traders (57 pts)
My third right prediction in this league and in the Franco Harris division too. You gotta now your opponent :-) Strong ground Traders couldn't do anything against week one wonder Stephen Davis who outscored all three opposing RB starters (F Taylor, A Murrell ,K Faulk) by 24 - 17. Traders also got injuries in this game with Herman Moore and Chris "cristal" Chandler and 99ers got their part of the not so lucky guy with Rod Smith scoreless and injured.

MediaBLITZ (99 pts) defeated D.S. Dolphins (85 pts)
Quote from last week :'Leroy Hoard a starter in MediaBLITZ. Scott surely thinks he will get goal line carries'. Well, I must say he got them. Favre will lead MediaBLITZ to victory more often than not. The Dolphins are just like all the other teams that tried to rely on the ground game this week : a beaten team...

Boston Swarm (117 pts) defeated Wisconsin Z-Force (71 pts)
Staley, James, Harrison, Marino, all proved this week that they are for real this year. Staley is the star in the mud in Philly, Marino is heading to a maybe final year Super Bowl, James was the leading rusher and Harrison benefited from his performance as well as Peyton Manning. On the contrary, big things were expected from Moss and he got a mediocre 2 points. However Z-Force was not very lucky as they had a potential points of 121...

Tianemen Tanks (96 pts) defeated Four Horsemen (57 pts)
The Tanks just smashed the Four Horsemen. That was a big scoring for the Tanks who benefited from Jacksonville Defense great performance. Four Horsemen has great potential players, but as most did in week one, the studs remained silent.

Brown League : 2 out of 6 (the tied game ended up my way)

Maho Marauders (98 pts) defeated Starfleet Academy (51 pts)
Quote from last week : 'Starfleet will heavily rely on SF offense with QB Steve Young, RB Charlie Garner, WR Terrell Owens. The other players are not sure stuff too with RB Priest Holmes, WR Pathon and WR Toomer. All of these guys have great potential, but scare me also.
Marauders are solid at every position but will aslo rely on one team and this is Indianapolis. QB Manning (no negative points for INTs), RB Eddie George, RB E James, WR J Rice, WR M Irvin and GB#2 WR Schroeder should give Marauders plenty of points.'
Weel, on week one Indianapolis outscored San Francisco, therefore Marauders win.

Degeneration X (133 pts) defeated Ebola Zaire (75 pts)
What did you want Ebola to do ? Degeneration X put NGFFL top scoring game (with 27 more points waiting on the bench...). Every spot was brilliant on DX, even Pittsburgh D who shutout Cleveland offense. Well, at least that point was not a surprise. Ebola players were OK, but only QB Steve McNair had a great week (#2 QB of the week).

Cleveland Browns (100 pts) defeated Austin Powers International Team of Mystery (100 pts) - Tie Breaker Rule
Quote from last week : 'Both teams are predicted to finish #1-#2. This game might determine clearly who is the division favorite. Look for a high scoring matchup.'
Now we know that those two teams are gonna stick to what they were predicted to : WIN with big points. Austin Powers had a potential 120 points vs Cleveland Browns who could have put 130 points. Look for both teams to continue on this level.

Atlanta Jackhammers (81 pts) defeated Predators (50 pts)
Predators might say : Geez, my team sucked last week. 50 points is the league lowest total this week, and that is what Predators got... On the contrary, Jackhammers were happy owners for the win, but a sorry one for the loss of Vinny Testaverde. Jackhammers is the team of the "not this year guys" with Vinny Testaverde, Wayne Chrebet, Trent Green, Robert Brooks and Madre Hill.

Connor's DawgPen (99 pts) defeated daUCBcat (96 pts)
The Dawg got the Cat. Big points shoutout in this game. Close game even in potential points (105-106). This might be one of the strongest division in all the NGFFL leagues, and this is the Otto graham Division.

Huntley Hackers (71 pts) defeated Gridiron Dominators (58 pts)
This team should be called Huntley "Air" Hackers as they only scored with aerial points. The Gridiron Dominators couldn't live up to their expected performance beeing only able to score thanx to RB Stephen Davis and QB Drew Bledsoe.
