Week five analysis

OK, guys. I am back on my duty. Last two weeks were pretty busy for me as the Rugby World Cup began :-) and also due to an increase work load, but everything should go back on track now (hopefully).

Halas League

The Shek is tearing the league (and the whole NGFFL) apart. Simply look at the stats : 5 weeks, 5 wins, 481 points (96.2 avg). Meanwhile Okalhoma OhNos and Weapons of Love are 0-5, that sucks...but they are the two lowest scoring teams. The lucky team is Sportin'Life who is the 10th scoring team (67.6 avg) but has a 3-2 record due to the lack of opposition (65.4 avg points against).

Brigantine 69ers (96 pts) defeated Oklahoma OhNos (72 pts)
Doug Flutie 3 TDs , Corey Dillon 160 yds and Carl Pickens 2 TDs game were enough for Brigantine 69ers to ignore Curtis Martin poor performance (6 pts).
OhNos top scorers were Emmitt Smith (20 pts) and Gary Anderson with 5 FGs. Jeff Garcia who started (Young, Blake, Lewis not starters and Kitna on bye) couldn't reach the 100 yds mark.

Meat Weasels (103 pts) defeated Lincoln Assassins (81 pts)
Halas offensive game of the week.
Meat Weasels was an air team with 6 combined TDs. They benefited from Isaac "no more hammies" Bruce 4 TDs game as well as Antonio Freeman 2 TDs.
Lincoln Assassins players played to their level, but it was just too average. Moreover they left crucial points on the bench with David Boston (16) and this week's NO top receiver Eddie Kennison (19).

Shek Republic (76 pts) defeated Sportin' Life (56 pts)
The Shek is still riding the Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison TD combo.
On the other side, Sportin'Life just lost Michael Irvin (maybe for the season) and their top scorer was the Chargers TM (16). Mark Brunell got 8 points (even less than Jeff Garcia) and has a high total of 3 TDs and 4 INTs in 5 games.

Wayne Fontes (91 pts) defeated Weapons of Love (54 pts)
Waynr Fontes rides the NE air combo Drew Bledsoe and Terry Glenn. They must also be happy to own James Stewart who is Jax offense right now.
Weapons of Love got 22 pts from Tony Martin, but that was all. They might be looking at their bench as they started Grbac (7) and watched Plummer finally score (16).

Kardiac Kids (73 pts) defeated Thundering Gerbils (71 pts)
Kurt Warner (33) was the Kardiac Kids this week while he completed 20 of his 23 passes.
Thundering gerbils might regret not spending one or two FA$ on a Team as they started Carolina Panthers for 0 (bye week) and lost by just two points.

Kiwi Air (84 pts) defeated Pigskinned Monkeys (69 pts)
Kiwi Air looked more like a ground team this week when his points mainly came from Mik Alstott, Dorsey Levens and Ricky Williams. Of course he now owns Brett Favre due to a previous trade and it certainly matters too (though Drew Bledsoe scored alsmost as many points).
Did Pigskinned Monkeys expect a win with QB Matthews, RBs Antowain Smith, Ron Rivers, WRs Ed McCafrrey, JJ Stokes and HInes Ward. I'm not sure.. :-)

Rooney League

Hoosier Tornados (79 pts) defeated Molino FFL (75 pts)
Close game. Both teams left approx 20 points on the bench.
Molino FFL stars were Freeman 27 pts and Gary Anderson, but they might don't like their QB situation.
Tornados get 2 scorers over 15 points with Cunningham 20 and Thigpen 15 and 3 with 9-10.

Class Dismissed (70 pts) defeated Titan Traders (56 pts)
Well, one more defeat for the CEO.
Traders could have outscored Class with 76 potential points and it would not have been unthinkable to see Plummer start ahead of Kramer and Charles Johnson over Adrian Murrel.
Dismissed did not suffer too much to start a non starting QB (0 for McNabb) right now but might don't like what tey've seen in Phily -> Michael Irvin...

The Lewinsky Swallows (90 pts) defeated European 99'ers (81 pts)
Came MNF, the 99ers needed 22 combined points from Curtis Martin and Keenan McCardell. Not impossible, no ? In fact the game went the other way as Jax ran the ball and NYJ passed it.
Lewinsky surely love what they see in Kurt Warner 5 TDs and finally get from Corey Dillon 168 yards game.

MediaBLITZ (125 pts) defeated Four Horsemen (64 pts)
+61 points eqauls the NGFFL blowout margin and it could have been more had MediaBLITZ started Mike Alstott instead of Leroy Hoard.
Another injury in Denver with Shannon Sharpe out for the year. Horsemen had an average game from their WR corps Jimmy Smith (2) and OJ McDuffie (4).

Wisconsin Z-Force (77 pts) defeated Tianemen Tanks (69 pts)
Too bad Kurt Warner only had eyes for Isaac Bruce as Tanks started Az-zahir Hakim (2). Ben Coates is watched too closely by DEFs that leaves open field for Terry Glenn and Bledsoe knows that, as well as Z-Force.
Z-Force was not spectacular but consistent with 4 12-15 players.

D.S. Dolphins (69 pts) defeated Boston Swarm (62 pts)
Dolphins won but could have been blasted by Boston Swarm. Potential score would have see Swarm win 93-76..instead of losing 62-69.
Moulds (10) for Dolphins and Harrison (15) for Swarm were the top scorers.

Brown League

Ebola Zaire (53 pts) defeated Starfleet Academy (49 pts)
NGFFL low score of the week.
Ebola Zaire could have regretted seeing his week 5 top scorers on the bench with David Boston (16) and Eddie Kennison (19).
Starfleet top scorers were Jason Elam (10) and Charlie Garner (10). They have my vote for week 5 "Damn that sucks award" as they could have put the biggest upset of the week as they also had 7 more points on the bench.

Degeneration X (93 pts) defeated Austin Powers International Team of Mystery (82 pts)
High scoring game, both temas could have not scored much more than what they did (112 - 91).

Cleveland Browns (81 pts) defeated Maho Marauders (64 pts)
Well, Issac Bruce (37) and Marvin Harrison (15) were the Cleveland Browns.
Marauders replied with Manning (22) and Mare (14) but lost Michael Irvin...and the game.

Atlanta Jackhammers (78 pts) defeated Big Sky Blitz (69 pts)
Good game for Emmitt (20) ,we saw Az-zahir Hakim get down to earth (2), but that was enough for the Jack.
Big Sky Blitz had good players but several were non existent (Means 0, McDuffie 4, Vikes D 1).

Huntley Hackers (121 pts) defeated daUCBcat (44 pts)
Woaw, NGFFL blowout margin has been blasted : +77 points for Huntley Hackers.
daUCBcat left several points on the bench (Marino 23, Charles Johnson 12) but could only have scored 73.
Hackers might remember this game a long time as he scored big points thanks to Kurt "I'm for real" Warner (33), Freeman (27), Mathis (12), Tony Martin (22), Curtis Conway (12). He didn't put up even bigger numbers as the WR5 spot was not targeted this week (Jake Reed) and PK and TM were only honest (6 and 7).

Predators (97 pts) defeated Connor's DawgPen (71 pts)
Another big points game.
Predators players averaged about 15 pts/player whereas Connor's players averaged 10 pts/player.
