Week seven analysis

Gasp, I'm still one week late ! Damn Rugby World Cup ! Anyway, as I and Kiwi Air thought, our two National teams will face up in the semis in London next Sunday (France - New Zealand).
Back to business, now.
A great thanx to Omar Harkes from the Halas League for his Halas League analysis and to Conquie from the Brown League for his Brown League analysis. That will save me a lot of time and help me stick to my objectives.

Halas League

Brigantine 69ers (61 pts) defeated Pigskinned Monkeys (60 pts)
CLOSE battle between these two. Did Dillon, Bradford, and Simmons even show up to the game? Brigantine brings their record up to 2-5.
Top player: Doug Flutie - 25 pts.

Meat Weasels (81 pts) defeated Weapons of Love (55 pts)
Weapons of Love thought they were on their way to a winning streak, only to be stopped by the K.C. Defense and Brian Griese. They fall to 1-6 instead.
Top Player: Brian Griese - 24 pts.

Oklahoma OhNos (79 pts) defeated Thundering Gerbils (54 pts)
The Gerbils went "Oh No!" as Oklahoma pound their way to their second straight victory led by an impressive game by Marshall Faulk. They incidently bring their record up to 2-5.
Top player: Marshall Faulk - 25 pts.

Lincoln Assassins (92 pts) defeated Kardiac Kids (70 pts)
The Assassins wiped out the school kids with heavy fire as they remain in 2nd place by a game (Sayers). Lincoln has never scored under 80 pts!
Top player: Rich Gannon - 28 pts.

Kiwi Air (92 pts) defeated Sportin' Life (69 pts)
The Life couldn't punch the air out of the Kiwis. What looked like a close match after Sunday's games, turned into a blowout as Terence Mathis blew up on Monday night. The Air remain on top of the Payton division at 6-1.
Top player: Tim Brown - 27 pts. in a losing effort.

Shek Republic (91 pts) defeated Wayne Fontes (75 pts)
The Republic continue their dominance by making sure that Fontes never again gets a coaching job. Usually a Manning + WRs (Harrison) team, they also got help from a starting RB in Leroy Hoard. Shek stays atop the Sayers division at 6-1.
Top player: Terry Allen - 22 pts. in a losing effort.

Rooney League

The second week of the divisional matchups. And this week the Terry Bradshaw division beats the Franco Harris division 4-2.
2 teams take the lead with a 5-2 record , The Lewinsky Swallows in the Franco Harris division and Boston Swarm in the Terry Bradshaw division. 6 teams are 4-3, 2 are 3-4, and our league officials are dead last with Four Horsemen 2-5 and Titan Traders setting up a NGFFL record of 0-7.

Molino FFL (73 pts) defeated D.S. Dolphins (65 pts)
Molino FFL didn't have star players but everyone played average (5 10+ players) whereas DS Dolphins could only rely on WR Terance Mathis (22) and RB Olandis Gary (12).
Top player: Terance Mathis - 22 pts

MediaBLITZ (77 pts) defeated Class Dismissed (59 pts)
MediaBLITZ gives another victory to the Bradshaw division. This was an easy victory as Class Dimissed carries an injury plagued team and had to start Bert Emanuel.
Top player: Brett Favre - 18 pts

Wisconsin Z-Force (68 pts) defeated Hoosier Tornados (62 pts)
This was the closest game of the week and it was a QB battle as Jeff George (22) for Hoosier and Troy Aikman for Z-Force were the two main weapons last week.
Top player: Troy Aikman - 23 pts

Tianemen Tanks (65 pts) defeated Titan Traders (36 pts)
Well, the Traders suck. They are en route in setting a league worst losing streak with seven in a row. Tianamen Tanks was not spectacular, but that was enough to beat a weak Traders team.
Top player: Marshall Faulk - 25 pts

Boston Swarm (137 pts) defeated European 99'ers (79 pts)
How do you spell victory ? Well, ask Boston Swarm as they set up a NGFFL record with a score of 137 points and take the lead of the Bradshaw division. That sucks as my European 99ers were the second highest scoring team this week.
Top Players: QB Rich Gannon 28 - RB Edgerrin James 20 - RB Terry Allen 22 - WR Marvin Harrison 21 - WR Tim Brown 27

The Lewinsky Swallows (65 pts) defeated Four Horsemen (48 pts)
The Lewinsky Swallows is the lucky team in this league as they have the easiest schedule so far. Their opponents averaged 63.0 points per game (lowest total in the league) while Lewinsky scored 68.6...
On this week contest Four Horsemen top scorer was kicker Todd Peterson (14), so not much to expect from the other players this week. Lewinsky can always count on his new stud QB Kurt Warner.
Top player: Kurt Warner - 20 pts.

Brown League

Interdivisional matchups continued this week, and yet the playoff picture is still muddled.

Predators (68 pts) defeated Starfleet Academy (62 pts)
In a very defensive battle, your humble Commish managed to squeak by Starfleet Academy 68 - 62, while getting no help from Keenan McCardell, who performed valiantly, despite being on the bye this week. Felix, what was I had said about that? But Commander seemingly suffered the same affliction, getting equally valiant production from Jacksonville's defense.

Degeneration X (91 pts) defeated Atlanta Jackhammers (68 pts)
The Degeneration X team managed to take down a powerful Jackhammer squad, with a 91 - 68 victory, much thanks to a great outing from Tim Brown, and a bounce back performance from signalcaller Brett Favre.

daUCBcat (86 pts) defeated Ebola Zaire (60 pts)
Meanwhile, Felix's daUCBcat's proved that cats have a great immune system, fending off Ebola Zaire 86 - 60. While Marshall Faulk made a brave effort to carry the Zaire team on his back, in the end, it was power outage from the rest of his backfield and wideouts, going against a huge Brain Griese surge and balanced production from the rest of the 'Cats that proved to be antidote to a normally potent virus.

Huntley Hackers (86 pts) defeated Austin Powers International Team of Mystery (60 pts)
Hunter's Austin Powers Team continues to look for someone to shag, and ended up finding Lorena Bobbitt, as the Hackers sliced through his ranks unscathed, winning 86 - 60. The Hackers got tremendous performances from Kurt Warner, Antonio Freeman and Terence Mathis, while only Elvis Grbac and Cris Carter managed to break double digits for Hunter.

Cleveland Browns (59 pts) defeated Connor's DawgPen (54 pts)
The Browns continue to amaze, racking up a fantasy victory for every loss that the NFL Browns accumulate. This week's victim was Connor's DawgPen, still "penned up" in the division basement, and now the league basement at 1 - 6. Neither team put much on the board, but the final tally tells the tale, with the Browns clinging to a 59 - 54 win.

Maho Marauders (75 pts) defeated Big Sky Blitz (46 pts)
Finally, Greg's Maho Marauders stays in the thick of the playoff hunt by avoiding the sack of Michael's Big Sky Blitz with a 75 - 46 thrashing. While the playoff picture gets a little clearer for some, the final spots are still very much in the air, as Hunter's Austin Powers team looks up from the division basement, but looks down on the entire Otto Graham division having scored 521 total points thus far, with daUCBcat not far behind at 504 points, matching you humble Commish's Predators for most points in that division.
